Dubai Mallathon 2026: Free Indoor Running Across 9 Dubai Malls This Summer
Dubai Mallathon 2026 offers free indoor runs across nine Dubai malls from June to September. Stay active in air conditioned comfort this summer.

Dubai's biggest summer fitness initiative is back, and this year it is bigger than ever.
Following the success of its inaugural edition, the Dubai Mallathon returns for 2026 as a citywide movement encouraging residents and visitors to stay active during the hottest months of the year. Running from June 15 to September 15, the initiative transforms some of Dubai's largest shopping malls into indoor walking and running tracks every morning.
The best part? Participation is completely free.
Whether you're an experienced runner training for your next race, someone looking to increase your daily step count, or simply searching for a productive way to spend a summer morning, the Dubai Mallathon offers a practical solution to one of the city's biggest seasonal challenges: exercising comfortably during extreme heat.
What is Dubai Mallathon?
Dubai Mallathon is a free community fitness initiative that converts major shopping malls across Dubai into indoor exercise spaces before regular shopping hours begin.
Every morning between 7 AM and 10 AM, participants can walk, jog, or run through designated routes inside participating malls while enjoying fully air-conditioned surroundings. The initiative was launched under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, with the goal of making fitness more accessible during the summer months.
Following the overwhelming response to the first edition, the programme has now been expanded into a three-month citywide event.
Why Dubai created the Mallathon
Dubai summers are not ideal for outdoor exercise. Between June and September, temperatures frequently climb above 40°C, with humidity often making conditions feel even hotter. While early morning outdoor workouts remain possible, many people struggle to maintain consistent fitness routines during the summer.
The Mallathon addresses that challenge directly.
It brings fitness into climate-controlled environments that are already familiar, accessible, and spread across the city.
As Sheikh Hamdan explained when announcing the initiative, the goal is to transform everyday spaces into places that encourage healthier habits, stronger communities, and more active lifestyles.
The result is a fitness event that feels approachable rather than intimidating.
The 9 Dubai malls taking part
The 2026 edition includes nine participating malls spread across different parts of Dubai:
- Dubai Mall
- Mall of the Emirates
- City Centre Deira
- City Centre Mirdif
- Dubai Hills Mall
- Dubai Marina Mall
- Dubai Festival City Mall
- Dubai Festival Plaza
- The Springs Souk
The wide geographical spread means you are likely to find a participating mall relatively close to where you live or work. Each venue features dedicated routes designed specifically for walking and running during Mallathon hours.
Choose the distance that works for you
One of the biggest strengths of Dubai Mallathon is its flexibility. This is not a competitive race unless you choose to participate in designated race events. Most days are designed to accommodate all fitness levels.
You can choose from:
- 2.5km route for beginners, families, and casual walkers
- 5km route for regular walkers and recreational runners
- 10km route for experienced runners looking for a more substantial workout
- Any-pace walk option for those who simply want to stay active without focusing on distance or speed
There are no expectations, no pressure, and no minimum pace requirements. Whether your goal is completing 10 kilometres or simply enjoying a relaxed morning walk, the event is designed to accommodate you.
How registration works
The registration process depends on the type of session you plan to attend. For regular daily sessions, walk-in registration is available at all participating malls. You can arrive, register on-site, and begin your walk or run.
However, capacity limits apply. Once a mall reaches its participant limit for the morning, additional walk-ins may not be accepted.
For official Race Days, advance registration is required. Certain venues also host Pro Racing Days, where competitive races take place first. On those mornings, regular Mallathon participants can begin their sessions after 8:15 AM once the competitive events conclude.

Free hydration and facilities
Free hydration stations are available at both the start and finish areas within participating malls.
You'll also benefit from:
- Fully air-conditioned environments
- Clean restrooms
- Safe indoor route
- Easy access to parking and public transport
- Family-friendly surroundings
The experience feels more like a community event than a formal race.
What makes the experience unique?
Running through a shopping mall before stores open feels surprisingly different from a gym workout. Instead of staring at a treadmill screen, you're moving through large open spaces alongside hundreds of other participants.
The atmosphere is energetic but relaxed.
You'll see serious runners chasing personal goals, families enjoying a morning walk together, office workers squeezing in exercise before work, and seniors staying active in a comfortable environment.
The combination of community energy and climate-controlled comfort is what makes the Mallathon stand out. For many participants, it becomes less about exercise and more about building a sustainable routine.
Practical tips before you go
Arriving close to 7 AM is recommended, especially at high-demand venues such as Dubai Hills Mall, Dubai Mall, and Mall of the Emirates.
Wear proper running or walking shoes, as mall flooring can feel harder than outdoor tracks over longer distances.
While hydration stations are available, carrying your own water bottle can still be useful if you're planning a longer session.
If you're attending a Race Day, register in advance to avoid disappointment.
Families with children, first-time runners, and senior participants will generally find the 2.5km route or any-pace walk option the most comfortable starting point.
